California Consumer Privacy Notice

Note: This Notice is effective December 11th, 2025 or the date you acknowledge the updated Privacy Policy within the Services, if earlier

This California Privacy Notice supplements the Privacy Policy and applies solely to California consumers.

The table below describes how we process California consumers’ personal information based on definitions laid out in the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (“CCPA”).

Not all the items listed in the table above are relevant to you. For example, we collect Social Security numbers from our users, but we may collect this while evaluating a job applicant.

Sensitive Personal Information

Some of the information we collect is categorized as “sensitive personal information” under the CCPA, which includes any information that reveals your social security number, driver’s license, state identification card, or passport number, precise geolocation, racial or ethnic origin, sex life or sexual orientation, religious or philosophical beliefs, biometric information, and contents of your messages. We do not use sensitive personal information we collect for purposes other than providing and improving our services to you and protecting our services and our community.

Information Retention

We keep your personal information only as long as we need it for legitimate business purposes and as permitted by applicable law.

If you decide to stop using our services, you can close your account. We will close your account automatically if you are inactive for two years. Following such account closure, we will delete your data unless otherwise required by applicable law

Note that where and as legally permitted, we may maintain and use data that, by itself, cannot identify or be attributed specifically to you for the purposes described in this California Privacy Notice and our Privacy Policy, including to improve and keep our Services secure.

California Consumer Privacy Rights

This explains your rights under the CCPA regarding your personal information:

  • Right to Know/Access: You have the right to know what personal information we have collected about you and the right to request a copy of specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
  • Right to Opt-out of Sales/Sharing: You have the right to opt-out of our sale or sharing of your personal information.
  • Right to Correct: You have the right to request that we correct inaccurate information we hold about you.
  • Right to Delete: You have the right to delete personal information that we have collected from you.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: You have the right to not receive discriminatory treatment for your exercise of any of these privacy rights conferred by the CCPA/CPRA.
  • Right to Limit the Use/Disclosure of Sensitive Personal Information: Under certain circumstances, you have the right to limit our use or disclosure of sensitive personal information.

How to Submit a Request for Your Rights

If you are a California resident who has provided personal information to SmoothSpeak, you may submit a request that SmoothSpeak honor your right to access, correct, or delete by sending an email to SmoothSpeak at support@smoothspeak.ai.

Notice of Opt-Out of Sale/Sharing

We do not sell personal information and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising (as those terms are defined in California law. We only disclose personal information to our service providers/contractors to operate, provide, and secure the Services (e.g., hosting, payments, customer support, analytics configured as a service provider) under written contracts that limit their use of the information to our business purposes and prohibit use for any other purpose. Because we do not sell or share personal information, we do not display a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link. If our practices change, we will update this policy and provide the required notices and opt-out choices.

You have the right to limit our use and disclosure of your sensitive personal information.

You may also email support@smoothspeak.ai. We will promptly respond to a request to opt-out of sale/sharing, but no later than fifteen business days from the date we received the request and verify your identity.

Verification of Requests

For your security and to comply with the CCPA, we will need to verify your identity to respond to any requests you submit to exercise your rights.

The type and amount of personal information we request depends on your relationship with us and the type of request you’re making. For example:

  • If you have an account with us that is password-protected, we may try to verify your identity through our existing account authentication practices.
  • If you do not have an account with us, and your request concerns “categories” of personal information collected, we may request from you two data points of personal information to verify your identity.
  • If you do not have an account with us, and your request concerns specific pieces of personal information, we may request from you at least three data points of personal information as well as a signed declaration with penalty of perjury to verify your identity

The procedures above are for illustrative purposes only. We may ask you for additional or different information as we determine reasonably necessary to complete your request in compliance with the CCPA.
